The foundation stone was laid at the Bengal Silicon Valley Tech Hub on 24 September 2026. The project will be developed across 51.75 acres and is expected to create around 10,000 jobs across the healthcare ecosystem.
The facility is being planned as a not-for-profit medical institution and academic medical centre serving patients from West Bengal and the wider eastern India region.
1,000 Beds to Cater to Economically Weaker Sections
According to the Adani Group, the proposed hospital will have 2,000 beds, of which 1,000 beds will cater to economically weaker sections of society who are eligible under state and central health insurance schemes.
The project will also include medical education, nursing and allied healthcare facilities, creating an integrated healthcare and education ecosystem in Kolkata.

Hospital Expected to Serve Millions of Patients
The Adani Group said the proposed Adani Arogya Mandir is expected to cater to more than 200,000 inpatients and over 2 million outpatients annually.
The healthcare ecosystem is also expected to generate approximately 10,000 jobs, covering medical professionals, nursing, paramedical services, technicians, support services and other related areas.
Adani Group Plans Infrastructure Expansion in Bengal
Healthcare is only one component of the Adani Group’s proposed West Bengal investment plan.
The broader ₹1 lakh crore-plus roadmap includes investments in ports, logistics, energy, roads, bridges, ropeways, green cement and hyperscale data centres.
The group’s plans therefore span both traditional infrastructure and newer sectors such as renewable energy and large-scale digital infrastructure.
Writers’ Building Restoration and Kolkata Durga Puja Support
Along with the investment announcement, the Adani Group also announced initiatives related to Kolkata’s heritage and cultural ecosystem.
The group signed two MoUs with the West Bengal government concerning the restoration of the historic Writers’ Building and support for Kolkata’s Durga Puja ecosystem through Adani Pujo Preview.
The Durga Puja initiative is intended to support puja organisers, artists, artisans, service providers and other stakeholders associated with Bengal’s festival economy.
The group also announced support for the revitalisation of Kumartuli Ghat in Kolkata.
What the Adani Bengal Investment Plan Means for Kolkata
The announced investment roadmap covers multiple sectors rather than a single project. The proposed Adani Arogya Mandir is expected to add a major healthcare and medical education facility to Kolkata, while the wider investment plan includes infrastructure, energy, logistics and digital infrastructure projects.
For West Bengal, the announced roadmap could involve new projects and employment opportunities across several sectors over the period leading up to 2035. However, the announcement represents a long-term investment roadmap, and individual projects will be developed according to their respective plans and timelines.
