Akashteer
India has made a new and smart air defence system called Akashteer, which means “Sky Arrow.” It helps protect our country from enemy planes, drones, and missiles. This system is made in India and uses Artificial Intelligence (AI) to work quickly and automatically.
What is Akashteer?
Akashteer is a defence system made for the Indian Army. It finds, follows, and destroys things in the sky that can harm us – like fighter planes, enemy drones, and missiles. It works in real-time, which means it acts quickly and gives full safety to Indian airspace.

Who Made Akashteer?
Akashteer was made by Bharat Electronics Limited (BEL). It is part of the Atmanirbhar Bharat (Self-Reliant India) plan. This means India is making its own defence systems and not buying from other countries.
Main Features of Akashteer
Uses AI (Artificial Intelligence): Akashteer can find and stop threats without much human help. It works faster and reduces mistakes.
Works with Many Sensors: It gets information from different radars and satellites like Cartosat and RISAT to see everything in the sky.
Real-Time Command System: It is a part of a big defence network called C4ISR, which connects the Army, Navy, and Air Force to act together.
Can Move Easily: Akashteer is fixed on vehicles, so it can go to borders or war zones quickly.
Quick Action: Army commanders using Akashteer can take fast decisions without waiting for long orders.
Safe Communication: It uses secret and safe messages, so enemies cannot jam or hear them.
Why Akashteer is Important
Made in India: Akashteer is 100% made in India. It shows India’s strength and smartness in making its own defence tools.
Layered Protection: It works with other defence systems like the Akash Missile System and S-400, giving full sky protection.
Smart Defence: Akashteer doesn’t wait. It sees, decides, and acts fast — making it better than old systems.
When Akashteer Helped India
In May 2025, Pakistan tried to attack India using missiles and drones. Akashteer worked silently but quickly. It found all the enemy missiles and destroyed them. Many lives and places were saved because of this.
Akashteer and India’s Defence Future
Akashteer works together with Indian defence tools like:
- Tejas fighter planes
- Arjun tanks
- ATAGS big guns
India wants to make ₹3 lakh crore worth of defence products by the year 2029. Akashteer is a big part of this dream.
Operation SINDOOR
Akashteer is also used in Operation SINDOOR. This operation helps India fight cross-border terrorism and new kinds of hidden wars. Akashteer shows that India is ready with smart and brave solutions to protect itself.
